Once we are in the right place at the right time, it’s time to prepare our shot, and the first thing we have to do is to focus correctly.
This is perhaps the most common mistake in new photographers shooting the Milky Way, so this step is very important and in this video I will show you the best way to focus on the stars. In this tutorial, you will learn:
*When I mention in the tutorial “Zoom in on a bright star”, it means zooming using the camera digital zoom also known as “Focus magnifier”, and not the actual zoom ring if you are using a zoom lens. We follow this step to have a better view of the stars and assess if our lens is in focus.
Note: A very useful accessory that I don’t mention in the video is a focus on the stars filter. If you struggle to focus at night, this filter can help you improve your focus drastically. I recommend the official focus on stars filter. You can also get a 10% discount on your focus on stars filter by using the code: Capture_the_Atlas10%
